week 4

We're started our glaze calc this week and we finished up greenware crit for our apologia project. I think everyone's turned out really nice. Class has been going really well but now I'm feeling a little stressed with the sell coming at the end of February.

Last night Alma, Jessie, and I stayed late, and helped Alma get into a Mug show, which was fun. We had to make a "DIY light room" to get decent photos.

I've also have been working on making utensils and trying to trouble shoot with making ceramic straws. I know it must be possible, maybe there's a video somewhere but I think talking with my peers has given me an idea or two which is much more worth my time.

Goodbye

 We're saying goodbye to so many people. The semester is closing down and the Dirt Bags have thrown an end-of-the-year Woodkiln party. It's different this time around with Covid and social distincing. Things arent as close or momentus as they once were and it kind of makes everything happening seem a little dull and sad.  Sam and Marret are leaving soon and I want to wish them well on their journeys'. It's been really great getting to know them and hearing their opinions. I'm going to miss having them around but it's been a good time. Brian has suprised us with a Dirt Bags picnic table and I'm excited to have future lunches with the girls.  I don't have much to say. Everything is a little bitter-sweet at the momment. This group was a good one. Until we meet again

wood kiln

A few weeks ago we had our wood kiln firing and it was a blast. I was able to do it with a new group of people this time and we had other artist come out that I was able to hear from and get some advice on certain things. Sam Chumley is a bully. It was a great learning experience and I actually stayed long enough to see how to wrap up the firing and learned a lot from that. eventually I'd like to have enough firings under my belt that I could come in and know whats going on at any point, nut that'll take time. after unloading everyone came into the classroom to admire everyone's work, it was a great moment

The First Circle- Limbo

 I've recently submitted an application for a grant through Kentucky Foundation for Women. I'm working on trying to make a new app that would help women across the world and I'm very excited to be launching the GoFundMe for that project shortly. I will also be featuring in a show coming up on September 12th, as the model for my partner's collection. The show will be hosted at Trouble Bar from 7-12. I'm upset by this news but I will continue moving forward and applying for other opportunities in the area. As of my projects in school, I have started working on my banquet scene and building the frame of my pig center piece.
